Calcium Silicate
Calcium silicate is an insulating material with the chemical formula 2CaO.SiO2 (with different ratios of oxygen, calcium and silica) which consists of hydrated calcium silicate along with reinforcing fibers. Calcium silicate pieces are used as suitable insulation with stable compressive strength in thermal equipment.
The main consumers of this product are Cement industries, power plants, refineries, petrochemical and metallurgical complexes. This product can be offered in different types of boards, tubes and half tubes in different sizes and thicknesses. It should be noted that this product is available in board type in different sizes and thicknesses, but some half pipe and full pipe sizes can be supplied based on the order.
Calcium Silicate is molded and can be supplied in the form of standard sections of a hemisphere or parts of an arc, and their dimensions are such that most standard pipes can be insulated by them. The ASTM C533 standard divides calcium Silicate into three groups: I, II and III, with type III having the highest temperature tolerance.
Calcium silicate is known as one of the best fireproof insulators. In this case, it is usually sprayed on the surface (European method) or applied in the form of thin coatings on the surface (American method). Since calcium silicate is sensitive to water and moisture and reacts with water, it is mandatory to use anti-moisture and waterproof coatings on it.
