Ceramic Fiber Module or Z-Block
Ceramic fiber modules are typically refractory blocks of ceramic fiber blanket that are banded together to form a thick piece of insulative material. Modules can generally range from very small handheld modules with simple hardware to extremely large modules that need a crane to be installed on-site. Their density will range from 10 lb/ft3 (160 kg/m3) to 13 lb/ft3 (220 kg/m3). Diverse dimensions, adjustable density and high speed of insulation and repairs are the reasons for the increasing use of this type of product to improve the quality of the insulation process.
Also, the anchors used for connection, which are installed directly on the body of industrial furnaces, are made of stainless steel, which has the necessary heat and corrosion resistance. According to the above, it can be said that the life of modular refractory will be much longer than layered refractory.
